Patrick Reyntiens OBE
Born in 1925, Patrick studied fine art at Edinburgh College of Art. His career in stained glass began with an apprenticeship with Eddie Nuttgens and flourished when he met and collaborated with John Piper.

Together they redefined the medium in the post war era, working on the Baptistery Window, Coventry Cathedral and Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral as well as numerous ecclesiastical and secular commissions in Britain and USA.

With his wife, painter Anne Bruce, Patrick ran an international art Centre at Burleighfield House in the 1960s and 70s. They moved to Somerset permanently in 1982.

Patrick has made many windows from Washington DC to Southall Minster and has inspired a generation of modern glass art workers. In later years he has worked with his son John, also a distinguished stained glass artist, on over a dozen major projects locally and nationally including a west window for St George’s Taunton.

His work is in the stained glass collection at the Victoria and Albert Museum and his contribution to stained glass is the subject of the 2011 documentary: ‘From Coventry to Cochem: the art of Patrick Reyntiens’.
